Note:  EBS 12.0 and 11.5.10 are in sustaining support.  No new patches are available.  You should upgrade to EBS 12.2.  Before upgrading to EBS 12.2, apply the minimum 12.0 patching baseline or the minimum 11i patching baseline.

SOLUTION

In the Weblogic Console, the Edit session is enabled in the domain.  Hence, adpreclone.pl is unable to complete successfully.

Execute the following steps to fix the issue:

1) Login to the WLS Console

2) Review the “Change Center” and click the “Release Configuration”

3) You should see the domain in “Lock & Edit” mode.

4) Re-run adpreclone on the Applications Tier.

 
November 24, 2021 Oracle 19c Active Data Guard DML Redirection Feature

19c Active DataGuard DML Redirection

ACTIVE DATAGUARD DML REDIRECTION is a new feature in Oracle 19c which enables the Data Manipulation Language (DML) operations on the Standby Server to be redirected and run on the production (Primary) database.

The updated data will be streamed back to standby to maintain redundancy.

Whenever DML we fire on standby database that operations actually executing on Primary. It might be impacted database performance so we need to avoid too many DML operation execution on standby.

 

Steps to Understand DML Redirection on Standby Database, Listed below

  1. Once DML executes on an open standby database.
  2. DML automatically redirects to the primary DB.
  3. The DML is executed on the primary DB.
  4. Then updated data is streamed back to the standby DB.
  5. Now data is available for the client.

Oracle 19c Active DataGuard DML Redirection

We have two methods to configure DML Redirection with the help of ADG_REDIRECT_DML.

  • SYSTEM-LEVEL
  • SESSION LEVEL

How to Enable DML Redirection

Using the below commands you can enable DML Redirection in Oracle 19c Active Data Guard.

Enable SYSTEM LEVEL DML Redirection

SQL> alter system set ADG_REDIRECT_DML=TRUE scope=both;

Enable SESSION LEVEL DML Redirection

SQL>alter session enable adg_redirect_dml;

Note:- You must be remembered, the session-level redirection overwrites the system-level redirection.

The EBS 12.2.11 release update pack (RUP) is delivered on My Oracle Support as Patch 31856789.  Instructions for downloading and applying this latest RUP on top of the EBS 12.2 codeline can be found here:

What Does Release 12.2.11 Include?

As a consolidated suite-wide patchset, this RUP includes new features, statutory and regulatory updates, and enhancements for stability, performance, and security.

Release 12.2.11 is cumulative. That means that as well as providing new updates for this release, it also includes updates that were originally made available as one-off patches for earlier 12.2 releases.

We are pleased to announce that Oracle Database Release Update 19.9 (19.9.0.0.201020) is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 on-premises.

Oracle Database 19.3 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 on-premises. As an Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 on-premises customer, you may now start planning your upgrade to Oracle Database 19c.

What’s New for EBS with Oracle Database 19c

There are several mandatory architecture updates when you upgrade your Oracle E-Business Suite database to Oracle Database 19c.  The following is a summary of the key required architectural changes:

Container Database (CDB) Architecture

With the Database 19c certification EBS 12.1 on-premises databases are now certified with the CDB architecture (multitenant architecture).

As part of the upgrade to Database 19c, you will convert your EBS database to the CDB architecture with a single pluggable database (PDB). The steps required to perform the conversion to the CDB architecture are provided in the following document:

It is important for you to pay particular attention to the following points:

  • A CDB with one PDB (single tenant) is currently the only certified deployment for Oracle E-Business Suite with Database 19c.
  • A CDB with multiple PDBs (multitenant) is not currently certified for Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • A non-CDB architecture is not planned to be certified or supported for EBS with Database 19c.

PL/SQL File Input/Output Directories

With Database 19c, the UTL_FILE_DIR database initialization parameter has been desupported. As part of the upgrade to Database 19c, you must migrate all UTL_FILE_DIR database initialization parameters to database directory objects.  EBS development has created a utility to migrate and manage your defined PL/SQL file input/output directories. If you are using or planning to use ISG, you should not perform an upgrade to Database 19c until the certification of Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 with Database 19c for ISG is announced.
